Why do I always think that things will be so much better when Josh gets home? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love him to bits and pieces and I miss him when he’s gone all day so its nice to have him home, but a) its not like I really get to spend quality time with him because I’m completely burnt out as a person and by the time he makes it home in the evenings I’m ready to shut down, and b) he can be ‚ loud and messy and doesn’t take care of the kids the same way that I do (example: he doesn’t put bibs on the babies) so I always feel like I have to watch after him almost like ‚ another kid. So I guess here’s what I’m wondering for anyone out there reading this…is this a pretty normal feeling and its just one of those things you learn to just let go of, or does it sound like I’m being a big jerk and having total control issues? And please, this is for posterity so…be honest.

The red beans and rice made a tasty meal. I only wish I had finished eating them before I started watching whatever it was I was watching on the Travel channel about the most bizzarre foods of Asia/South Pacific. All I have to say is deesgusting! I know that I do not have a terribly adventurous palette (sp?), but just watching the guy on the show eating some of that stuff was making me squeamish! Like the still-beating frog’s heart that was freshly ripped out. UGH! We chased that show with an episode of Iron Chef America (which, I’m sorry, is just no where near as fun as the original!!!) in which Bobby Flay and the challenger got to hack up some living fish and turn them into nasty looking entrees. I finished the night with a tasty bowl of Skondras Caramel Prailine Pecan ice cream. (It’s good, but it’s no GooGoo Cluster!)
Woe to me. I suffer. I have eaten the last of the pan of veggie lasagna and now I have no more time with it. Luckily, Josh is home from Nebraska and he is going to cook me some red beans and rice for dinner. So, what else do I have to write about? I was surprised by the judges decision on Top Chef last night to let go of LeAnne (sp?) although, at this point I don’t so much care who wins because Stephen is finally out of the running and as long as its not him I’m pretty happy. Ooh, and “Opie” season is off to a good start too! I’m looking forward to a dramatic season. Already there is bad weather and smoke on the water (deurn deurn deurn, deurn deurn de-neur)! I’ve finally started on the laundry I’d been neglecting all week. Two loads down, seven to go! And that’s just the washing and drying. Folding, hanging, and putting away, well shoot, that’s just a whole ‘nother ball game! And it smells as though it may be about time to change the kitty litter again mmm… Hopefully that can wait till Saturday because there’s just something about changing it during the week that I have an unexplainable yet very real aversion to. We had a steak peddler in the neighborhood today. Those guys always interest Josh. We were able to turn him away today, but Josh did get his card magnet for the fridge…and BBQ season is just beginning. I know I’m just rambling, and I don’t have much of a following yet (NOT that you aren’t enough for me! I Love you!), but I am just really not sure what to write about so I’m wondering if you have any requests?
Dearest friends and possible strangers,
I am writing here today to ask for your help. You may not be aware that Wells Blue Bunny once made an ice cream flavor that they called GooGoo Cluster. This flavor was fashioned after the candybar in the shiny silver wrapper with a chocolate ice cream base, marshmellow and caramel ribbons, and chocolate covered peanuts throughout. For many years this has been one of my favorite treats, but now for apparent “lack of demand” the people at Blue Bunny have decided to discontinue this flavor. This probably happened a while ago as I have not been able to find it in stores for a long time now which I had hoped was merely an inventory fluke, but I finally emailed the company and found out that in fact yes, it had been discontinued. I have sent a message to the company begging for the return of GooGoo Cluster ice cream, and now I am reaching out to all of you to do the same. Please. Ok, you don’t have to beg, but if you were also a fan of the GooGoo Cluster or think that it sounds like a flavor choice you would like to have back in the stores, simply go to their website at www.bluebunny.com and under the section that says “Contact Us” send them a message asking for the return of GooGoo Cluster. Thank you.
So Josh is off to Norfolk, Nebraska, again today. They’re pouring their colored concrete and he wants to observe the entire process which apparently takes hours upon hours upon hours so he will be staying in a hotel tonight which means I get all the kids all day long all by myself–Yippee! I have enough laundry to do to last all day and it was rainy so I can’t send the kids outside. Luckily there should be enough leftovers in the fridge that I shouldn’t really have to do any cooking. So, I’ll probably just let the kids watch Nick Jr all morning, then movies all afternoon unless it dries up and while my laundry washes and dries I’ll be on here trying to find new ways to amuse myself with my new blog toy.
What can I say? I love veggie lasagna. It’s just good. I think I am in danger of consuming the entire panful! It’s even better than regular lasagna.
Ok, so I don’t really have anything to say just yet, but I am blogging! Say, did you know that Hostess cupcakes do indeed have a shelflife and they will go bad if they don’t get eaten.
