<description>"Peacemongering" has never been easy, but the only alternative is future tragedy. Ignorance and fear are always easy, and both are essential ingredients of war. Hate requires less effort than love. Sadly, old animosities fuel future conflict, so merely surviving isn't the same thing as a fresh start, even though so-called winners usually think so. Active peacemaking is worth the effort because it's the only way to end cycles of revenge. Americans might be wearying of the warlike attitudes we've indulged lately, but that's not the same as becoming peacemakers. Still, all who've lived through a season of war get new chances to become better peacemakers, and it's that time in the USA again.</description>
