For the first time in probably over a year…maybe even two, I am enforcing a quiet time. I emptied the pool over the weekend because the kids had gotten so much dirt in it and we need to move it periodically so it doesn’t kill the grass we’ve been trying so hard to grow! And since we have had plans a few days this week and we are leaving for the weekend I decided not to refill the pool again until we get back. So I have been allowing the kids to play GameCube to help occupy their time, and generally I would say that they have been improving at the “not fighting or whining when you lose” thing, but…and this is too big a but to ignore any longer, they have been getting up increasingly earlier in order to play GameCube and Cameron especially is suffering behaviorally from lack of sleep. So, after having to take ALL the kids to the grocery store with me this afternoon, I treated them to Wendy’s sandwiches and now I have put them to bed. I told them they don’t have to sleep, but they do have to stay in their own beds and they have to be quiet enough that Elena can fall asleep.

Wow! Enjoy your quiet time!
We also do “quiet time” in our home. The first day or two Carter wasn’t sure if he liked the idea, but now it works great!
Ooh, quiet time–me likey quiet time…Good for you. I think even as adults we need some quiet time where we turn off the phone and the TV and the computer and just gather ourselves a bit.
