Dan, Very good information
Mike, I agree with your sinopsis, and I think that is a good place to start, but i think that there is more to it.
Kate, I think you talking on the phone has added the "more to it" referenced above and I think that we could get some more conversation if we get some of that written out here.

I am very proud of my wife. She has been eating healthy for almost three weeks and has not cheated. She truly believes that happiness is not found in food.

I was gonna recommend talking to Candace about migraines (I've seen her have a few crazy ones.) But it sounds like your dad can help you in that.

As for the depressing dreams, have you ever thought that there is someone that wants you to be depressed and as miserable as he is? Satan does make any effort he can to make us like him, especially when we are trying to be more like our Heavenly Father.

That's just a thought.

Becca,

One more thought--stimulated by noticing the words "What is it About Showering"--is to add a comment on SHOWERING. Believe it or not, a hot shower with neck twisting and soapy massage is one of my best ways of heading off or bringing down a headache. Usually I shower as hot as I can take it, so it's about steam and and sinus relief as well as muscular and vascular relaxation. I call it my hydrotherapy.

Becca,

As your main model for "migraineurship" (I assume), you might suppose I didn't get anything right. (So what could I know?) However, as you've heard me tell, I do urge you to rule out blood pressure for sure before pursuing other diagnoses. Nailing down one's unique headache profile and triggers and all that can be a lifetime pursuit, and is for many. But lots of drug and treatment advances have been made, and lots of people are living more comfortably.

You've heard it, but I'll testify again. The single pill I take each morning (50 mg Atenolol) ENDED my suffering almost nine years ago. I still get the occasional tension headache, but who doesn't? I was willing to try blood-pressure medicine when my doctor finally pitched "a beta-blocker that might also help with your migraine." Whammo--we should have done it about 14 years earlier when he first started telling me I had borderline hypertension. All that time I suffered migraines, weekly or worse, while insisting I didn't need to deal with blood pressure because it was staying in the upper end of the normal range.

Might not be your answer, but don't reject it until you've explored it honestly and fully. If that's not it, don't put off figuring out what could help you. Life is too short for debilitating headaches! There's not much I believe any more firmly than this. I know its toll on me and those around me.

I'm proud of you for all you're doing to take charge of your life. Don't despair!
