I just finished an entire half hour on the fat burner mode on my eliptical machine and no one seems to be answering their phones so I have to crow here! I know it doesn’t seem like much, but that is the longest and hardest I have EVER elipticalled!!! And for those of you who have tried one of these machines before, you know the first time you get on it you feel like you’re gonna die after like 30 seconds, well I haven’t elipticalled in sooo long! So this is huge for me today! I am 2 1/2 weeks into my new healthier lifestyle and although the scales aren’t reflecting anything yet, a few people have said they notice a difference. Personally, I don’t see much physical improvement yet, but I am amazed at my resolve and I do think I’m beginning to see a hint of cheekbone definition. I am getting sick of salads, so if any of you have salad or vegetable meal recommendations I’d love to hear ‘em. You can post your favorite healthy recipes here! I will tell you that there are some vegetables that I don’t eat: Zucchini (unless in bread), Asparagus, Lima Beans and Brussel Sprouts–although Josh likes them so I guess if you have a recipe involving those, Josh may like it. Also, the simpler the better cause I don’t do much cooking. Also, if any of you would like some of the recipes that I’ve been using, I can post them here too.

Rochefort...isn't that a smelly kind of a cheese?

Great job! Yes, I have used that machine and it gets me sweating a lot faster than a treadmill. I seem to always be on a diet and a friend told me about these fiber bars that are 140 cal. made by General Mills called Fiber One. There are two kinds and both good tasting. They seem to fill me up for a 10:00 or 3:00 break. One has chocolate and one has peanuts and it is best just to have one a day. But it helps me not to over eat at lunch and/or dinner.
Cutting down on portions is what I am working on, no seconds. Good Luck to you Becca.

Candace is way better for healthy recipes, but you shouldn’t rule out asparagus until you get it fresh and grilled (Chris grills it really well). It tastes amazing!
As for recipes I don’t have any good ones for ya, although I would LOVE to see the ones you’ve been using! And as for your work on the eliptical machine, that’s just awesome!!! WAY TO GO!!!
I didn’t know there was a BLOG POST about the ellipticaling! YAY to YOU! I’m very proud of how well you are doing, although I did giggle when I read that you were getting sick of salads because I was there the day you said that you could eat salad for two years! I always see frou-frou people putting FRUIT in their salads, have you tried that yet? I wish I had an answer for you although I recommend getting a crock pot! Ours has been a wonderful way to have healthy meals without having to cook all the live-long day!

Well, I believe the day I said I could eat salads for two years it was more of a resolve issue, convincing myself i could do what was necessary, not literally two years of nothing but salads. YUK! But yes, I need to keep up the salad eating and no, I cannot put fruit in it. I see that too and it just grosses me out. Here are a couple of my healthy living tricks: 1) I eat small frequent meals and snacks kind of like grazing all day, and I never eat less than 3 hours before I go to bed 2) I’ve found light things that I like to eat and I don’t deviate a whole lot 3) I use fitday to help me keep track of how approximately how many calories I’m eating and my fat/carb/protein ratios 4) I love crunchy nectarines!!! They are cheap and abundant right now and on the top of the list of healthy foods. I have one every day as an afternoon snack. I cut it into pieces so it takes a little while to eat 5) I have a large cup of ice water with me at almost all times–and I drink it 6) I don’t deny myself the occasional craving or meal at a restaurant I just try to limit myself to once a week, and I do try to make healthier choices for example–we recently went to Cheddar’s one of my favorite restaurants. Usually I will order the Santa Fe Spinach Dip with tortilla chips for an appetizer and then I will get the crispy chicken strips meal with french fries and smashed potaoes with brown gravy and BBQ and honey mustard for dipping then for dessert either the Cookie Monster or the Cheesecake and several glasses of cherry coke! This time I had water to drink, shared the appetizer with the whole family, got steamed brocoli instead of potatoes and shared my fries with Elena and pulled all the breading off my chicken and had no dessert. But I still felt like I’d had a great meal. 7) I keep a motivational photo album with me at almost all times 8 ) I exercise regularly with friends, it makes it more fun and I’m accountable to someone, I’m less likely to not do it if I know they’re expecting me 9) I check labels closely–it takes longer initially, but once I know what’s good then I can shop healthy 10) I spend the extra money on the healthier foods at the store. I would probably benefit from a garden, but I am just not that person…at least not yet, what can I say? I’m the “one of these things that’s not like the others” in my family
Anyway, thanks for all of your support. Maybe I’ll post some actual recipes on here soon.
I’m having my all-time favorite quicky tonight–hamburger fried with onions and cabbage with soysauce and a little pepper. It’s great plain, with catsup, or with salsa!
