Wow. My little girl is seven today! And while that seems to old to be true, it does seem like a VERY long time ago that she was born. In fact, she is such a grown young lady, it is difficult to remember her ever being this little:

I wish I’d taken a picture of her first thing this morning to show for comparisson, but hopefully she’ll manage to keep her nice new birthday outfit clean at school today and I can take her picture when she gets home and then I’ll update here. Anyway, I wish Elise to have a happy birthday and every happiness in life (with not too much sadness) and I’d like to thank all of you for the various important roles that you have played in our lives and the special relationships that you have formed with Elise.

Happy Birthday to my 2nd favorite girl in the world (tied with Elena lol). I love you very much Elise and I hope that you find all the joy that your heart can hold!
It was fun to eat lunch at school with Elise today. I tried to stop a ball on the playground today, and what do you know I landed on the ground. now little 1st grader offered to help me up and I have 3 bloody knuckles because of it. Elise and I spent all the time after that playing hoickey with our feet and a slab of ice.
What is this hoickey that you speak of… sounds dangerous!
