So I went out to help Josh dig out the driveway today. Apparently it was time to break in the new boots and snowpants. The wind blows through our side yard like a tunnel and so the side yard still has visible grass, but the driveway has like a three to four foot drift! I made a lot of progress but then I got tired and bored and decided to see if I’d have better luck tunneling through the driveway. When the kids saw my awesome fort they decided to come back out and play. Between my sitting in the snow trying to keep the ceiling from caving in and the boys with their lightsabers, I had a lot of quotes from “Empire” running through my head! Some of the pictures Josh took especially remind of scenes on Hoth.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that we are going to have another snow day tomorrow!
Be careful. You know snow caves can collapse and smother kids! I think I’d put up a snow fence or plant a bush so the drift would be away from the drive. Looks like you had fun. Glad you got out in the snow–and glad Josh got to be at home.
Glad your dug out. I second the snow cave warning though. I might of told you about how last year Jessica and Jame and her friend had one collapse on them. It was very intense while Jessica and James tried to dig out Jessicas friend while a snow plow driver piled more snow on top of her. I’m still mad at that snow plow driver.
The earlier worry-wart/advice filled post was from me–not your dad. Were to have a 2 hour late start today (TH), but just got a call canceling school. Yippee!! I’ll pay in June, but it’s nice to have the time now right before Christmas.
Becca,
Your snow cave brings back memories of being a kid! I invited all my Facebook friends to see this, all 490 or whatever of them. I wrote: “Latest from my daughter the Mommy Blogger.”
As JPM said, the “worry-wart/advice” post is from your mother who just figured out how to change the sign-in and evidently assumes her handle is recognized by any with need to know.
Dad
i love the photos! what great fun, and you are such a good sport to be out there in it. i drank a cup of hot cocoa in your honor;)
For all concerned about the safety of the cave, let me assure you that if it had caved in, no one would have been completely burried and no one encountered themselves as Darth Vadar, it was not that big and did not have that much snow on top–especially once Jacob turned it into a tunnel with two openings. Josh and I were out with the boys the entire time that they played in it, and then Josh attempted
to drive his car through it so it is no more.
looks like you all had a lot of fun!
